War of the Worlds 2005 7.5/10

A nice WOTW re-make from the legendary 1898 H.G Wells novel of the same name. I've seen the 1953 film and apart from the obvious difference in visual effects the story is a lot more personal, which is closer to the book. Surprising performances from Cruise and Dokota Fanning, well cast for the parts they play. The cinemitography is well directed which is to be expected from Speilburg. Visual effects are spectacular with specific mention to the tripod design and behavioural characteristics.

There Will Be Blood 2008 8/10

There will be blood is a master work from director Paul Thomas Anderson. With actor Daniel Day-Lewis in the title role, who gives a stimulating performance. Daniel Day-Lewis's character plays a self made oil tycoon, we watch his progression from a mere well hand to a rich capitalist businessman.
The film features stunning performances from all the cast and sets itself in the rugged, dessolate terrain of the deep south. The film was sometimes slow but didn't detract from the story or cause the overall film to suffer. It just wouldn't apeal to younger people or people with short attention spans. Overall, brilliant acting, ingaging story, gorgeous cinimatography and thought provoking symbolism! Top notch.

Transporter 3 2008 3/10

I haven't seen the first or second instalment of this trilogy and after watching the third I don't wish too.Obviously a poor script and acting would ensue which is to be expected but for an action film the action sequences are sparse and boring. The main love interest is whoreish and has an accent that annoys me immensely. The only memorable thing of the whole movie was the Audi Jason Stathum drives. (had a magnificent sound :D) A very forgetful film, if you saw it in the theatre...shame on you!

Windtalkers 2002 4/10

The first scene had me chuckling. At first I thought it was an over dramatised dream sequence, how wrong I was. This movie has a lot of flaws. From the some what forced acting from Nicolas Cage's character, to the ridiculous and unrealistic effect shots. I'm a fan of war flicks but this film oozes hollywood clichés and lacks grittiness and realism. It also suffers from a lackluster script and poor cinematography. Overall this film is a poor representation of a war movie and probably isn't worth watching.
